Why Strengths-Based Coaching & Development?

Great workplaces encourage good managers to become remarkable coaches and leaders. The Gallup organization knows more about managers than anyone else in the world. Through decades of research, Gallup’s team has learned that managers account for 70% of the variance in team engagement at work. Great workplaces recognize that managers are the primary catalysts for change in any organization. From modeling the organization’s purpose and values to coaching individual performance, managers bring the organization’s culture to life and, ultimately, define how employees perceive the organization. And how employees perceive the organization is ultimately how customers perceive the organization. If your managers don’t change, nothing changes.

Summit Leadership & Coaching uses Gallup’s CliftonStrengths coaching because we believe that this training stands apart in its efficacy and its basis in applied research. For decades, Gallup has allowed scientific discoveries to guide the development of CliftonStrengths and continually studies individuals who develop their talents using CliftonStrengths in the real world.

Utilizing a strengths-based approach to coaching helps us lead others to discover where their strengths lie and how to develop them for maximum benefit. Strengths-based coaching is about focusing on what we as individuals do well instead of fixating on our weaknesses. Strengths-based coaches use their understanding of their talents to guide others; these coaches help their team members discover and capitalize on what they do best.
